Here is our GENERAL Itinerary for Tournament Day!
This schedule rarely changes year to year, so please use this as your reference when planning your arrival and visit.


We are working to arrange engaging options for the student competitors so that they have things to do between the conclusion of the Main Tournament Competitions and the start of the Award Ceremony!

Tournament Travel Reminders

A checklist to help you make sure your team arrives ready to compete:
For SD Science Olympiad State Tournament
  • Preliminary Roster Form submitted (by March 6)
  • Final Team Roster (signed by school Principal)
  • Signed Media release forms for all students

Parking: We usually secure approval from USD Police to suspend all ticketing so that teams and their entourage can park on campus without parking passes!

For Events & Campus Activity
  • Build device and tools, repair supplies if needed (Build Events)
  • Preparation documentation (notes), as needed, for certain build events.
  • laboratory PPE (gloves, goggles, coats) w/ spares (Lab Events)
  • calculators, pencils,  paper, and phone chargers
  • Reminder to friends & family to follow the Awards Ceremony Livestream on Youtube

Event Schedule

The SD Science Olympiad plans our Schedule of Events using the same schedule as the same-year National Science Olympiad.
The National events schedule is included in your Division Rules Manual.

Awards

Event Competitor Podiums
First, second, and third place medals (gold, silver, and bronze) will be given for each event at the South Dakota Science Olympiad State Tournament. In addition, championship trophies will be awarded to the teams compiling the most total points during the state competition.
State Championship Team Podiums
​The winning team from each division at the State competition will be invited to the National Science Olympiad Tournament. State Champions receive a trophy and recognition for their coach(es).
